In Boston 4

In Boston 3

Josh's new neighborhood, a park right next to his house, and a Krav Maga studio near his house that he would like to go to.

Friday, June 20th: Day 7

The drive was ridiculously long, taking us up through the tip of Vermont before finally depositing us in Massachusetts. The countryside was pretty gorgeous, very lush and green. It was a little rainy, but that was a nice change after tumbleweed country.

Thursday, June 19th: Day 6

We finished our trek through Ohio today, passing Cleveland on the way out. While not a bad state by any standards I have formed on this trip, Ohio is fairly boring. After passing swiftly through the end of Pennsylvania, we made it into New York. We drove along the coast of Lake Erie and took in some quite spectacular views. Many houses in this area look very picturesque and there was a plenitude of quiet streams and small forested areas. So far New York has easily been my favorite state. In fact, aside from a psychotically cheerful and giant doll, this looks like it would be a very pleasant place to live. Although this could just be due to the fact that, as far as I could tell, there were no "bakery/thrift stores" as I had seen in other states.

Wednesday, June 18th: Day 5

Today we left our hotel and, after a confusing but scenic Garmen-directed venture, we circled back to our starting location and then entered the freeway. We passed through St. Louis, which looked surprisingly like Seattle, and saw the overflow of the Mississippi river as we passed into Illinois, through Indiana, and on to Ohio. As far as I can tell the latter three states should be lumped together into one; Illianahio. We then continued to our hotel in Dayton, OH. Other than a few cows the day (after leaving Missouri) was quite uneventful.

Tuesday, June 17th: Day 4

Last night I got quite a bad nosebleed, luckily I was not yet asleep and was able to grab some tissues to stem the flow. Unfortunately, this was after I has already lost quite a lot of blood on the pillows. After feeling a little guilty I went to sleep. This morning I debated letting the front desk know that they would find carnage when they went to clean, but the moment we left the room a small woman went rushing in with an armful of clean linens. It seemed a bit too suspicious to yell, "No wait! Don't go in there, I can explain." So I simply walked away quickly.
There was an urn of coffee in the front office so as I went to deposit our room keys I decided to snag a cup. Once I had concocted my caffeine to my liking, I reached for a lid only to find that, in the numerous variety of lids available, there was not one that fit. Not wanting to drive around with an open cup of scalding beverage, I turned and sheepishly placed the styrofoam container in the trash. We will never be returning to this establishment.
Today we drove through Oklahoma City, which was really quite nice. Following this we passed through Kansas and saw some very idealistic pastoral scenes. There was either an abundance of swampy lands in Kansas, or flooding in the forested areas to the sides of the road where many trees seemed to be half-submerged. After passing many pleasant little towns we crossed the border into Missouri. The one word I can think of to describe the so called "Show Me State" is porn. The moment we passed from the relatively quaint roads of Kansas we were bombarded with signs alerting us to upcoming adult entertainment stores/establishments/arcades. To be honest I was quite curious about what would constitute an 'adult arcade', but was too worried of the possible answers to stop and see. The irony is that there were five or six signs for each of these curiosities, but seeing the advertising for the last several miles I would be disappointed by the small shacks that looked perhaps like storage sheds with only spray paint and large arrows to indicate that this was indeed the over hyped location. Needless to say, we did not stop until we reached our destination; Saint James, MO.

Monday, June 16th: Day 3

Leaving New Mexico was quite a relief, although that was slightly diminished once we realized that we would then pass through the Lone Star State. Texas. In Texas we saw some pretty incredable things such as a row of muscle cars spray painted and lodged into the ground, and what is billed as the world's largest cross. The moment we hit the Oklahoma border everything got greener, nicer, and less dry. (not to mention more bovine) Clinton was a very small town, although quite nice in its simplicity.

Sunday, June 15th: Day 2

We left our hotel early this morning and continued our trek through Arizona. We decided to take a detour to the Grand Canyon, but didn't stick around for too long as it was still quite hot. From there we drove through to New Mexico. After avoiding multitudes of tacky Native American souvenir stands, we made it to our next stop: Albuquerque.

Saturday, June 14th: Day 1

Starting out around noon today, we drove down through Los Angeles and on to Arizona. We are staying the night in Kingman. It's been very hot; over a hundred degrees, but we have been staying nice and cool due to the air conditioning.
